Sustainable RI Advocate
Sustainable RI is a multi-faceted initiative to transform RI into the nation’s first sustainable state.  Come roll up your sleeves and get involved with our staff in supporting, shaping, and organizing the research, policy, and visions that will alter the future of growth in the state for decades to come.  Green Buildings, mass transit, a green economy, sustainable agriculture are just a few of the areas for involvement.

Master Gardener
Love spending time outdoors in a beautiful, wild garden? Help us tame it just a tad by partaking in some regular garden and grounds maintenance.  We are looking for a committed individual who can assist all of the vegetables, flowers, and herbs reach their greenest potential. A general knowledge of organic gardening and landscaping practices is helpful, but a willingness to take the lead in planning, planting, and maintaining the gardens is the key to this opportunity.

Assistant Educator
If you are interested in developing education experience and relationships through ongoing work, we welcome your commitment to our weekly after school outreach programs in the greater Providence area. Join our team of enthusiastic educators and assist in both classroom and outdoor courses. An excellent way to learn and cultivate teaching skills.

Webmaster/Copywriter
We are in need of a person with good writing skills and experience using Adobe Creative Suite programs to provide basic website updates/maintenance, copywriting, and minimal web and brochure design. A great internship for graphic design students or anyone who would like to exercise their creative mind!

Sustainable Living Festival & Clean Energy Expo Planning Committee
Help us plan the 8th Annual RI Sustainable Living Festival and Clean Energy Expo scheduled for June 2009, which features music, workshops, vendors, exhibitors, food, music, children’s activities, nature walks, tours of the Apeiron Center for Sustainable Living, and much more. Past events featured The John Scofield Band, The Slip, Erin McKeown, Cheryl Wheeler, Girlyman, Eddie from Ohio, Lucy Kaplansky, John Brown’s Body, and Gandalf Murphy & the Slambovian Circus of Dreams.

Tour Guide at the Center for Sustainable Living
Learn enough about environmentally friendly building and land management at our Center and teach others as a Volunteer Tour Guide.

Administrative Aide
Learn the intricacies of how our non-profit organization functions from our Providence location and in the greater Rhode Island community and provide regular administrative help in our Providence office. 

Apeiron Canvasser
Work alongside our Membership & Outreach Coordinator to help spread the “sustainable word” to our community. A great way to interact with others and increase others’ involvement in issues you care about!

Database Assistant
Our database is the backbone of all of the outreach and communications work we do. Help us improve how we reach out to our contacts and members by cleaning & transferring data from our old system to our new one.  This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside our staff at our Providence office in Rhode Island’s first “green” office building!  Also works as a short-term volunteer opportunity.

Brown/RISD/PC/URI/RWU/Salve/etc. Student Liaison
On the lookout for a rock-solid citizen to serve as a link between Apeiron’s objectives and your school’s like-minded population. Help us help you by organizing volunteer groups, creating appealing educational programs and maintaining open correspondence with organizations such as the Swearer Center and BEAN at Brown and environmental groups at other colleges and universities.
