February 26 Evolution Forum: Sustainable & Local Food

We can have a big impact on the size of our ecological footprint with the food we eat, or don’t eat and by choosing where it comes from.  Come to the Evolution Forum this month and learn more at Sustainable Food: Diet and Distance.

When: Feb 26th 5:30- 8 pm
Check in and socializing from 5:30 with program starting at 6:30

Food: Local food and non-alcoholic drinks.

Noah Fulmar

Noah Fulmer is a co-founder of Farm Fresh Rhode Island, where he currently organizes local food forum networking events, farmers' markets and the guide to local food at farmfreshri.org. Noah aims to build a food system that values the environment, health and quality of life of Rhode Island farmers and eaters.

Scott Pollard Scott Pollard is a State Representative in his first term in the Rhode Island General Assembly.  He represents the towns of Coventry, Foster and Glocester.  Representative Pollard has recognized the importance of local agriculture to Rhode Island’s success which is why it is one of his top priorities for his district and the state.
Erik Eacker Erik Eacker has been farming for 12 years and is currently the farmer/owner of Ledge Ends Produce, a certified organic vegetable farm in East Greenwich RI.  Erik sits as the President of Northeast Organic Farming Association of RI and the Chairman of the Organic Advisory Board for organic certification. Erik holds a strong passion for the advancement of local and organic farming.
Katherine Brown Katherine Brown, PhD is the Executive Director the Southside Community Land Trust in Providence, Rhode Island.  Before joining SCLT in 2003, Katherine published several seminal articles about urban agriculture, and is widely regarded for her advocacy and scholarship in the urban agriculture field.  Previously Katherine was a tenured professor for fifteen years, teaching health policy and ethics.  Her PhD is from Columbia University in Socio-medical Sciences, specializing in public health policy and cultural anthropology.
