Seventh Sustainable Living Festival

expands to two days, June 7 and 8

The Apeiron Institute for Sustainable Living is expanding its annual Sustainable Living Festival and Clean Energy Expo to two days, June 7 and 8, in recognition of the growing awareness of issues involving the environment and energy conservation.

The festival is held at the Nickerson Community Center’s Camp Hamilton, home to Apeiron’s Center for Environmental (Sustainable? – check with Brad) Living in Western Coventry, near the intersection of Routes 102 and 117.

The two-day festival features more than 40 workshops, 80 vendors, special children’s activities, and a full line-up of local and regional musicians featuring the likes of Cheryl Wheeler and Gandalf Murphy and The Slambovian Circus of Dreams.

“We are particularly excited about this year’s festival, coming at a time when we’ve launched our new initiative, Sustainable RI,” said Bradley Hyson, Apeiron’s executive director.

“Each day we are reminded again and again of the dangers of global warming, of the consequences of ignoring environmental impacts on our health, and the importance of a clean environment to the wellbeing of our economy,” Hyson said. “ Even as we watch gas and home heating oil prices skyrocket we still are struggling to develop logical and environmentally safe energy alternatives. The Apeiron Institute works to help people find solutions to these challenges and Rhode Islanders can come and learn about many of those solutions at the Festival.

“The Festival is really a practical guide for individuals and businesses, providing them with the knowledge and products that can help them sustain a lifestyle that sustains the earth,” Hyson said.

The festival features a wide variety of vendors and workshops offering practical solutions that are sound environmentally. Attendees will walk away with increased knowledge that will help them use our natural resources without compromising the environment and that help them make a difference for the environment every day. Workshops cover a wide range of topics related to businesses, the home, and energy alternatives.

For more information about workshops, vendors and musicians, visit Apeiron’s Web Site at www.apeiron.org, where you can also purchase tickets in advance at a substantial discount. A two-day pass, for instance, costs $20 in advance and twice that day of show.
